The Chairperson of the Britain Tanzania Society (UK Chapter), Mrs Elizabeth Fennell and her husband, Ronald Fennell, will be visiting Kagera Region-Tanzania particularly Bukoba and Karagwe in particular. The couple is scheduled to arrive in Bukoba on Sunday 05 June 2005.

The main purpose of their visit is to witness progress of the projects that have had support of the Society. These projects include: Lugambwa Secondary School; Kabale Secondary School; Bukoba Regional Hospital; Kikukwe Women's Beekeeping Cooperative; Kashai Primary School; and the Eden Centre for Appropriate technology at Nyakasimbi, Karagwe. They will be accompanied by Rotarian Elias Mashasi (BTS Representative in Kagera).

Mr. Ron Fennell, who is a member of the Development Aid Committee which allocates the funds of the Tanzania Development Trust.

They would be very keen to meet us at FADECO, visit the Eden Centre and to discuss our future plans and objectives on the 7th June 2005. From our point of view, it being the purpose of the Tanzania Development Trust to help alleviate poverty, we would be keen to see the benefits of the training going to marginalised youth and orphans.

We wish to extend our warm and cordial Welcome to Mrs Liz fennell and her husband Mr. Ron Fennel to Karagwe. Nyegera waitu.. Karibu sana.

What are our objectives?

Our formal objectives are:

• To aid in the sustainable development of Kagera

• To promote exchange visits between the UK and Kagera

• To advance for public benefit the education of the inhabitants of Kagera

• To educate the public in the UK concerning the causes of, and ways of relieving, poverty, sickness and distress in Kagera.

Why support Friends of Fadeco?

Because as well as raising funds for vital development work, we aim to build local links and a real partnership at the grassroots level through Fadeco. We will be involved in specifically targeted fundraising, [such as the art auction at ecodyfi, right, showing Richard Collins, Secretary of FoF (left) and David Thorpe, Chair].

We are fundraising now for encouraging fair trade, for an information centre, and for training teachers. We would like you to help us with these and other very practical aims.

I would like to express my deepest thanks to all members of FOF in the UK for your interest in FADECO and for supporting our development work here. With you in the background, I am most encouraged and motivated.

I understand that what it means for you to think about us. I am happy that, through FoF, we are able to show the rest of the International community that indeed friendship can break confines of race, religion and backgrounds. FOF is a living testimony that the world is one big village.
