FADECO as a Non Government Organisation (NGO)
FADECO stands for Family Alliance for development and Co-operation.
It is a local Tanzanian registered Non Government Organisation started
in 1993 and officially registered on 2 Feb. 1996 (Reg. No. SO 8737)
under the societies Act.
Its objective is to promote sustainable social development of
people in the rural areas according to its
constitution. In order to achieve its objectives, the organisation
implements programs identified to address exisisting needs within
the community. Having started as a self help group, the organisation
now has 3 core program interventions.

 It
was started by FADECO in 1998 to address the technological interventions
undertaken by FADECO. The con
tribution of FADECO towards sustainable rural development was
decided as: identifying, developing, demonstrating and transfering
knowledge on existing and new technologies that would help to
make rural lives better. The following are appropriate technologies
that FADECO have been working on under the auscipicies of ECAT:
1) Renewable Energy technologies especially in the field of Agriculture,
Environment and Energy (power):
- Promoting post harvest food preservation, processing and storage
- Promoting Fuel efficient cooking techniques: fuel efficient
stoves and solar cooking
- Promoting Solar Photo-voltaics, Wind Energy and Bio-fuel
- Promoting Bio-gas for lighting and for cooking
2) Training youths in vocational and employment generations skills
( Carpentry, Computer studies and enterprenuership)

is a fully licenced community radio station by the Tanzania Communication
regulatory Authority (TCRA) with Licence No. TCRA/CSRD/21/2010
This was started in 2006 as a cheap mechanism for dissemination
of information and rural training (esp. given the lack of extension
programs) in the region especially information on:
a) projects carried out by FADECO and other development statkeholders
b) availability information on agriculture related issues: markets,
weather
c) Local, national and international news
d) fostering cultural expressions and other related development
issues: good governance, democracy, human rights, environmental
education

TRADING CO. LTD
 It
is a registered limited liability company on 5th January 1999 with
Reg. No. 35530 under the Registrar of Companies Act
Was
started as a trading arm of FADECO, to market products from its
technological innovations as a way to get income.
Main
products marketed under this company have been:
a) Solar dried fruits and vegetables produced by FADECO and its
members
b) D-Light solar lanterns
